I recently purchased this from a JGF member and find it a wonderful instrument at an absurdly reasonable price. My go to instrument is a 7 string custom 17” jazz box and my thought was to find something a bit more ergonomic for longer playing sessions. The Jazz Elite is perfect in this regard: only 5.6 lbs, 2.25 body depth, 1.75 nut, 25.0 scale, fully carved maple with spruce, loud acoustically. But although it is in the ballpark, it doesn’t sound quite as good as a full sized jazz box (duh!) and I miss the 7th string. So I am offering it for exactly what I bought it for: $1600, your shipping. You can read much more about this model on Lou’s website, Guitars ’n Jazz, he designed it with Eastman. Why is it so inexpensive? Apparently the previous owner took shipment on it during a winter cold snap and there is some finish checking on the face. It is difficult to see in the photos but in various lights you can see it. The back is unscathed. I researched it before buying and apparently it does not compromise the structure or sound in any way - many older guitars have this, and it can also be cosmetically improved with the addition of more finish. To me it is of little consequence except that it necessitates this lower price.
That is the part I was asking earlier in the thread. I'm trying to understand if you are actually experiencing the process of improvisation differently or is it just how you describe it. If you...
I just spoke to Rob today because i hadn't seen him on the forum and he told me he is under treatment for myasthenia gravis. He says to say hi to everyone.Just thought people would like to know and...
Or maybe it's fruit salad in this case.
I got the guard/rest, mounting bracket & P-90 spacers today. I am argumentatively sure this is older, like 47-48, but only want to know for the sake of...
Yes, it's nice, but I don't like the part where he moves up the fret-board from the Fm6 to Em7/Am7 and plays open E & A strings for the bass line, and has the bass line leap up and down a minor 9th...
My motivation for responding to this is not to deride it. I simply don’t like seeing erroneous statements left unchallenged, because others accept them without questioning and spread them as truth. ...
@AdroitMage said “It does look like his 15's were probably JBL's then. That would mean that his 15's were alnico magnet speakers too, because, correct me if I'm wrong, but all of the vintage 15" JBL...
It may be from having been playing for over 60 years, but that thought and visualization are ever present - I can't turn it on and off. I like to play a bit before a performance, but I don't have a...
Those half notes are a powerful tool. Just the notion that you can’t play a complete triad on most chord changes is really useful. Or more to the point, you can’t play a complete “shape.” For that...
Never in all my days have i ever wanted a George Benson Ibanez of any kind. The only thing I could use from George is his chops. I am not even envious because with those chops, I probably focused on...
Thanks for that great info. I have read the quote from his website before, HUGE Metheny fan here.:redface-new: I had never seen the one you posted from his guitar tech, though.

Well that’s the goal. In the final analysis terminology doesn’t matter.
But - It’s a hell of a job breaking that muscle memory aspect though. Everyone goes up and down usually from the root...
