I’m currently working with this luthier in PA, and he has been a pleasure to do business with. He has started making archtops and I just wanted to share his information as his prices are great for completely solid wood guitars (archtops are starting at 4k, but i’m sure that will go up as he gets more notoriety).
He’s been very open to customization, and I’m about to commission a 14” archtop with
-Solid spruce top, cut thinner for better acoustic response
-curly maple back and sides
-rosewood binding
-ebony board
-Customized inlays
-X bracing
-Customized f holes
Thank you for all the info Rickco!

etc...
I had to guess about open versus not played strings.
Shipping and a guitar to get it plected sounds crazy to me. You add the exposure of shipping damage to a job that can be done competently by someone within driving distance.
It cost a lot more...
I'm learning this Mammal Hands tune but I keep getting tripped up when the drums start the fast beat at the 2:50 mark.
I was quite happy feeling everything in 6 until that starts, what exactly is...
Yes, I had my 175 pleked. It came out pretty good.
But about a month earlier I had a 335 type guitar fret dressed by a skilled tech and it was just as good.
And I even think the set up (not...
