For solo guitar, the first thing i do is see where the highest and lowest note of the melody fall. That dictates everything. I also make an effort to not play everything in "guitar friendly"...
Yeah if you’re playing with other people then whatever is fine as long as you’re bringing charts. If you’re not, then you want to go with the key that is most often used. Ireal in general is good but...
That is one of the best looking Holst guitars i have seen.He does really great work.Enjoy that beauty.
Practice transposing, things sound the same in every key to me. I avoid E, I don’t like playing open strings and I can’t sing in E. F is better for my voice, much to the chagrin of old bandmates.
Another vote for getting ahold of Masaki, especially if one is chasing the BK vibe. I've seen their 2-P90 ES-350 style guitars come up from time to time. Wonderful guitars, especially if you're...

On guitar, I like Over the Rainbow in Eb (especially acoustic guitar). This keeps all the chords in the middle of the instrument.
Would a nickle round (over steel) wound be louder than a 80/20 of same guage over a magnetic pickup at same action etc. ? An example would be not only set to set but if you were playing round wound...
I have a 1968 that has the exact same nut width. Gibson confirmed serial number. Mine in 1 11/16". Gibson said late 1968.
Are you talking about making solo guitar arrangements or playing in a combo setting with other instruments?
For years, possibly decades, I have slavishly played jazz tunes in the Real Book or sheet music key, as presented. It has just occurred to me that I can play in whatever key I like! I saw a...
Stern is great. I have just paid 10 bucks to download his latest album, "Echoes And Other Songs", from Bandcamp. Looking forward to it. I am glad to pay Mr. Stern directly for his work, rather...
