Yep. I'm not surprised he played it, I read years ago, that Barney Kessel did quite a few 50s and early 60s rock 'n roll sessions.

I read years ago that Kessel played a Danelectro 6-string bass on some of these rock/pop tracks. I can't find the article - it would have been back in the print days - or any pictures of him playing one. Seems plausible after Duane Eddy did an album using the Dano so maybe producers were going for that one.
