It was a free concert of squawks and squeaks and structure-free noodling. I haven't listened to anything by Sheep since. To be fair, I should give a listen to how he sounds now.

Many.. but Paul Desmond and John Coltrane were unique and seem to tap into the Force in a way few could.
-
Stan Getz and his contribution to Johnny Smith's "Moonlight in Vermont".
Tom
-
Eddie Lockjaw Davies
-
Getz, Desmond and an LA tenor player named Robert Kyle. Also, Stanley Turrentine.
-
Lester Young.
I'm been enjoying playing the cd with Oscar Peterson trio today.
Barney Kessel on guitar.
-
Rather than particular players I prefer particular tracks, it doesn't matter who plays them. It all depends on the track.
-
John Coltrane
Cannonball Adderley
-
I never met a sax player I didn't like. Guitarists, on the other hand...
-
I've been revisiting Ben Webster today.
His big breathy tone is fantastic.
-
For current players, I like Harry Allen. For those now gone, Lester Young.

Thought there'd be more Brecker fans among guitar players - or is it just the Rock guys that would give 3 of their testicles to sound like this:
brecker brothers heavy metal bebop - Google Search
... his solo starts at 1.58, oh, try slowing down the phrase at 2.13 to 50% . Its still fuckin' fast!

Previous post has me listening to Hank Mobley.
Damn!

Dexter Gordon

Was just listening to some Dex (as I often do). There's a reason we keep going back to him, for me it's because I feel this really cool personality. I mean, I also get that from a few of the past greats, Pres, Jackie Mac, early Rollins, early Wayne, early Cannonball (in a more "joyous" way though), but there's just something about Dexter. Put it this way, if you're like me, if all the greats were at the same party, you'd make your way to Dexter's corner to hear his stories ahead of anyone else's...

Any of these guys…..

Ted Brown

Too many to list, as far as those I like. Favorites? Getz, Watts, Berg, Shorter, and Woods.
-
I heard Joe Lovano live more than a few years ago. He was great and I am not generally a fan of jazz sax.
-
All the good ones
Always had a soft spot for Gary Bartz on this. To me, it's the sound of someone offering their soul on a plate...
