Hi, can you suggest some trios with guitar, bass, drums that I can play along with on Hammond? It would be helpful if the tunes are bluez or common standards. Sax, guitar, bass, drums is another possibility.

Billy Bauer Plectorist.
Maybe also check out the Ron Carter, Houston Person duo albums.

Get Me Joe Beck is the name of an album by a terrific guitar trio, playing standards.
It was a pickup band, put together for a two night gig. Apparently, the first night was so good they recorded the next night.
So, you can hear what a truly terrific trio can concoct out of RB type tunes without much, if any, rehearsal.
The drummer, David Rokeach, has an impressive resume, including Ray Charles.
The bassist is a local pro, Peter Barshay. Teaches at the Jazz Conservatory.
Joe Beck was a truly great player.Last edited by rpjazzguitar; 05-20-2023 at 01:55 PM.

Grant Green's "Green Street" and "Standards" albums would be perfect.

Paul Desmond, Bossa Antigua
Joe Henderson, So Near So Far
Sonny Rollins, The Bridge
Jim Hall, Live!
Pat Metheny, Trio 99, Trio Live, Rejoicing, Bright Size Life
Joe Pass, The Trio
Joe Beck, Get Me
Jack Wilkins, Windows

Jimmy Raney - But Beautiful.

The Poll Winner and The Poll Winners Ride again, Barney Kessell.

Don’t know if sax, bass, drums would fit the bill, but if so, Sonny Rollins - A Night at the Village Vanguard, and Lee Konitz - Motion are good for comping along to.

Thanks for the good suggestions. I had forgotten how much I like Paul Desmond. I was dozing off last night because the bossa album was so relaxing. Grant Green Standards and Barney Kessel Poll Winners ended up working pretty well. Nice and straight ahead and workable tempos. Sax does work. I'm just playing the tunes on my laptop so the upright bass isn't very audible then I'm doing bass and comp on the Hammond. Maybe I'll be able to solo over a bass solo.

Also bass+guitar duos can be good for this.
And it is good when the guitarist plays more single-note lines like a counterpoint with bass.
Joe Pass and Red Mitchell
Jim Hall and Ron Carter

Another good Jimmy Raney trio album is The Influence, with Sam Jones and Billy Higgins.
