All I know is he's fantastic, again IM"H"O. Don't want anyone to construe what I say as a "fact" :}
Lots of great Robben on YouTube, one clip with Miles and Santana in the same band.

Great guitarist for sure.

Considering his work with Miles and the Yellowjackets, I would say he is a blues guy who can play jazz when he wants to. One of my favorites.

Robben Ford: Jazzy Blues guy or Bluesy Jazz Guy?
As the mexican bandit says in Blazing Saddles;
"Badges? We don' need no stinkin' badges!"
Or to put it another way; it's all music. Like it or don't, your call.

Robben Ford : great fusion guitar-player
I listen his work with JING-CHI and his playing is soulful -
there is also a record with Joe Diorio called Minor Elegance and we can hear , a great feeling from this guy -

So much incredible Ford footage on YouTube. 30 years worth by my calculations. Love the guitar, love the voice, the man should be bigger than Michael Jackson, but I digress..............

All-around good guitarist. Love his music. I think there is a pretty grey line when blues becomes jazz IMHO, but I always have enjoyed RF.

I seem to recall reading that Robben started out playing jazz (on a sax), switched to guitar & took up the blues.
