I may not listen much to some of these guys now, but they're my main guitar influences:

Django: relentless swing, and his ideas translate to many genres of music.

BB King: (in his prime) So soulful. Never overplays. Tasteful, but thrilling!

    Wes Montgomery: of course.

Hendrix: He opened my ears and my mind. Groundbreaking.

Carlos Santana: Introduced Latin rhythms, melodic solos and jazz influences to rock.

That Guitarist at the Local Club: You know...the one that you're staring at his fingers all night, and the instant you get home you grab a guitar and try to figure out what he was doing? These are maybe the guys that inspire me the most.

Very, very difficult. I have to go with the guys who most made/make me want to play this instrument: and for the purposes of this post, I'm going to go with jazz guitarists.

    Jazz Players

    Django Reinhardt
    Joe Pass
    Kenny Burrell
    Pat Metheny

5th guy - torn between Kreisberg and Rosenwinkel!!!

There would be a different list for non-jazz guitarists.

    Non-Jazzers

    Chuck Berry
    Peter Green
    Carlos Santana
    Larry Carlton
    T-Bone Walker

This week I'd like to sub one of my picks out with Wayne Krantz. Way too many good players out there to narrow it down to 5!

Quite different aspects depending of which of his numerous projects you refer to
I do like a lot "Muy Divertido" (with the Cubanos Postizos)
You can check also his trio :

    or Ceramic Dog :

    or solo
or other cooperation with John Zorn's Electric Masada for instance :

    and others .....

    3. Hank Garland
    4. Wes
    5. Russell Malone (Thought I should pick one who is still kicking.)

Make that list at least 10!

    Jimmy Raney
    Jim Hall
    Ed Bickert
    George Van Eps
    Howard Roberts
    Joe Pass
    Doug Raney
    Ron Eschete
    Howard Alden
    Joe Diorio
    Barney Kessel

I could continue but there are too many other choices to pick from. IMHO, These great musicians are all jazz guitar masters.

That would be... "he, my wife, and I got trashed together the Friday before last, and it was one of the most fun nights I've had in a while!

If you keep this up, people may develop the notion that you're from Alabama instead of Israel.

    OK, just fuggin with ya.

Not jazz but one of my faves for sure. Probably the top guy out there as of 2013. (and finally a decent sounding youtube vid too)
