I see on Eastman site they are in the making of a kinda Tele-wise electricSC' 62 Kingtone SC'62 Kingtone - Eastman Guitars with Lollar pickups...EDIT: Price wasn't listed when I made the post, was thinking it'd be in the 2K range but 4K ouch...

and by chance anyone has an interest in mandolins they have a new yet to be released PCH-M104 oval hole A-Style ...Think it'll list for $499 and might just be pretty nice instrument and a style oval hole should have a mellower tone. PCH-M104 - Eastman Guitars

and pretty sure they're releasing affordable ukulele

Looks like Eastman and Collings had the same idea to make a Tele style guitar, though the Eastman will be probably half the price or less than the Collings and just as good. The model with the Charlie Christan pickup looks very tempting to me.It seems like the whole guitar is being built in the U.S. which is a departure for Eastman.

For all those that complain about Eastman being made in China, the higher price for this guitar is what happens when it is made solely in the U.S.

The price of something is based on many factors. Often the cost of labor or supplies has little to do with it. However, other times it does. When it comes to Collings, if they were asking less, their customers, might have a negative response.

Women's cosmetics. Time after time, blind testing shows that cheaper products actually work better and are preferred by the testers, but so many people believe that price and quality are absolutely linearly connected, so the manufacturers happily increase the price and make far more profit, while the brands that sell for less are seen as being inferior, although blind testing shows they may actually be superior. There are many other products in the same category, it certainly isn't limited to cosmetics.
