vibrato in Jazz

And, it was real slow, and wide. fantastic! He used a little fender amp, deluxe maybe , and red es 335.

Met him in 1967 in Montreal, very nice guy.

Elvin hung around the West Side players (Magic Sam, Otis, Luther Allison) and those guys really had it going on...but the OP was about vibrato in jazz.

you're right, but a subsequent post reminded me of the sound that I heard elvin bishop getting.

re original post, I am guessing that the teacher might be meaning, "if you want to sound like these players....... they don't use vibrato" ,

or " most jazz guitar players today do not use much vibrato"

just a guess.
