I think there's been a lot of good advice so far.

Regarding 8th notes with resolutions, that was something I spent some time on and I simply just started very...slowly, gradually working up the tempo.

Something simple you can do is write out (or just conceptualize) a specific rhythm with mostly 8th notes and try to improvise pitches (over a tune or progression) that are within than specific rhythm. Then try with another...

Triple emphasis for Jens' point about melodies in 3/4 (great way to get familiar with any meter really.)

Another point that hasn't been mentioned: Set the metronome to half notes, either starting on beat 1 or beat 2. Playing along with that can get you out of a "three beat rut" and start thinking and playing over the bar line a bit. If you get adept at that (more advanced I know) set the metronome to "whole" notes (really beats of a four beat length) then you have four bar long phrases and release even more of a dependence on beat one.

I thought 3/4 time is a waltz. Like 2/4 time is a march.

    And Hello.
