In May 2008 Bucky Pizzarelli came to Toronto to play at the Heliconian Club. After the gig he kindly agreed to give me a lesson the following morning at his hotel. Here's the first 15 minutes or so. The guitar is a mid-1940's L50 which we traded back and forth during the lesson. In this part we were working on straight acoustic rhythm. His message (repeated often): "Lighten up!"
I wanted to share this as a tribute to the memory of this charming and generous guitarist. Please ignore my flubs!
A belated thanks for this gem you shared with us. Bucky comes across as such a friendly and warm person, in addition to being the master we all know he was. You were lucky to have this opportunity of meeting him!

The trick is probably to have both, so also a job that brings in the real money, and ideally a rewarding one where you have enough autonomy and flexibility to support your musical endeavours.

Hmm. Maybe this was the case in the days when health insurance was affordable to buy yourself.
I mean, I’ve read this thread and seen the comments about gig pay. Holy crap!

Even if you don't have kids being serious about guitar or music pretty much infers a level of selfishness with your time. I had kids but was a less miserable SOB when I was making money through music...
Those Earvana nuts really look like they're a PITA to set up if you can't use one of the prefabbed versions, and also to maintain buzz-free.
I also don't understand entirely why they work. I mean,...
I have 2 guitars that have some blemishes that are clear under the top coat. I doubt they'd become invisible with just an overspray.
Just how much do you think you took off with those coarsest...
