    Congratulations to the OP.

Great when that stuff happens .

I had a similar thing with my left ( fretting )
    hand a few years ago.

I like Vibrato and bends so had my thumb up over neck despite having small hands which held me down from the top tiers of
chops and fluidity and wider interval note choices etc.

When I changed to a "hybrid" left hand with thumb high but floating behind neck it widened my hand slightly and enabled easier arpeggios and I can still clamp thumb over really quickly for bends etc.
( the palm near index finger is still anchored against bottom of neck all the time just like thumb over top technique ) .

So now I have "big " hands lol.

Now the trick is to make it more musical...which is why I am here sometimes to learn from the Jazz Guys ....

But technically I can arpeggiate across the strings rhythmically or at very high speeds etc...or slow and rhythmic.

I had a strong right hand way back in the 80s but my left could not keep up...

So now I don't need any complex picking schemes to play shapes and wide intervals and sheets of sound....it's all alternate picking...but making it musical is another story and mapping out where I want to go etc etc
