I want to install a set of TI Benson 12's on a little Ibanez guitar with a wraparound tailpiece. I think the ball-end wraps will clear the saddles. I doubt I'll be able to get enough turns at the tuners for the silk wraps to install correctly. Typically I'd let my repairman install them but he's 50 miles away. My concern is that the wound strings could unravel if I cut them incorrectly. I usually "pinch" the string between the first and second turn, like putting your thumb between your index and middle finger. Is that enough pressure to cut the string under full tension, or will the string unravel?
