I'm rebuilding the speaker cabinet that I use for my backing tracks - kind of a mini PA. The speaker is Faital 10FE200 (10"), 300w, 4 ohm, freq range 50-4500hz. The amp is a generic mono Chinese 150 watt class 'd' circuit board. The amp feeds a Dayton Audio XO 2W-3K Rev A crossover. I've been using a cheapo piezo horn for highs but just bought a PRV Audio TW350 Ti-4 Slim tweeter to replace it for better performance. My question is: the new tweeter comes with a capacitor that, I assume, is intended as a passive crossover, but do I really need it since I'm using the active crossover? Should I just leave it in series with the new tweeter for protection in case the crossover craps out at some point or take it out?
Thanks!
