Any owner of this model can give me some thoughts ?
I was about to buy an AF2000 but this one came out and I'm undecided

You were about to buy one but didn't?
Grab one fast!!! I've ordered an AF2000 at my nearest, trustworthy music store (in Italy) and after a 13 month wait it still hadn't arrived, so they called me around Xmas time and said it would get to the shop in june but... "sorry we're retiring and closing the shop in january"! Ok, so in the end I got a MIC Epiphone Casino instead.
They're both beautiful guitars (AF and AM 2000), if I were you I'd grab one fast as soon as it's available. I think they send out (to Italy anyway, I don't know where you are...) no more than a couple a year (that's what they told me at my music store)? Prestige models seem like the hardest to get guitars, these days. Even through Thomann there's several months wait! I gave up. Too bad for Ibanez.Last edited by frabarmus; 03-21-2024 at 01:35 PM.

I'm in Spain and I'm afraid that same is happening here. Only one AF2000 left in the whole country (at least in the major online shops ) My concerns about the AM is the size, less than 14´´ is about the sizze of my Tele and I`m not sureit will be enogh for a hollow body.

"Enough for a hollowbody." I don't understand what that means. The AM series are semi-hollow.
In general, the top end Ibanez guitars that are made in Japan are excellent instruments. And given the scarcity of it, if you buy it and decide it doesn't suit you, you should have no trouble selling it for about what you paid for it. I think your risk is probably pretty minimal.

The AM2000 is considered hollow, despite a small block under the bridge I believe.

You can also discern the difference in sound... personally, I prefer the AF 2000, but all three of them are nice.

The AS2000 appears to be very similar to the former GB200.

True, the AF2000 looks very similar to the GB200.

They are both the typical Ibanez 16” body, that’s been in production since 1981. They are all variations of the JP-20 (body), which was the first model to be made with the d’Aquisto style as opposed to the Es-175 style. Originally Posted by Gitfiddler
The GB200 and AF200 do differ slightly from the original JP20 body, in that the GB200 and AF200/AF2000 both have the D’Angelico style cutaway, where the top and back plate are not arched into the cutaway. Which is odd given both are laminate models. Even Gibson press their laminates into the cutaway, hence why they don't have the extra thick binding to cover the gap, (ES-350, Tal, etc..)
The GB200 also has 1/2” more width on the lower bout making it a hybrid between a 17” and 16” model type.
To GB200 feels bigger and considerably heavier than the AF200/2000

I've owned both, a JP20 and GB10, back in the 80's. I wish I still had them. Both a joy to play, each with its own strong personality.

Great sound here. Playing isn’t too shabby either… I have some doubt if it’s really the first time he played it. The action seems to be much lower than typical factory spec. Anyway, I love this tone.

I like It very much too. I wouldn't be surprised it's there first time he plays this guitar. He's a very good player and his main guitar is nearly there same as this one (Indonesian model). Originally Posted by Oscar67
