The nicest sounding Guild I’ve played was a Ghost label X500 with white Franz (I think) pups. I’m still haunted by the sound.Originally Posted by DawgBoneI can never find it on a youtube search so I'll let you slide this time (heh heh) if you send the video link to my inbox or at least just post it up on the forum. I'll bookmark it. It stands out to my ears in a big way, so much so that I can't forget hearing it. THE jazz tone for mellow stuff like that. My wife also loves old Guilds so who knows one day maybe I can talk her into getting me a nice X-700 just so I can play Moonlight in Vermont for her around the house. But I gotta start small so I need that link brother!
Will send you the link.
Yeah, my preferred local GC is pretty good. Actually, there's two within 5 miles of my house which I realize makes me pretty lucky. Neither is bad, but the one is better...but also much less busy,...
It looks like you're looking for something a bit prescriptive ... so here you go ... The guy in the video (at 7:40 anyway) is playing a scale in 6ths. Start there. Thirds and sixths are by far...
How dare you. Pachelbel's Canon. Bach would never ....
The first story is a show of pure 'douche-baggery'. The 2nd, hysterical! you can't make this stuff up~
Both sound different, therefore I use both, adjusting as I go. There's no point in restricting yourself to one sound. It's nice to play, for example, an echoing phrase with a different pick attack.
Some shipping/packaging genius should read and take some inspiration from Larry Niven... Crash Web by Larry Niven from Crashlander
I thought it was time for (yet) another attempt at trying to extract the magic from this book. (Yet) again, I've gone back to the beginning. This is literally page 11 / 12 and no more (i.e. aside...
I heard they're changing the name of the Mayfield Heights Branch to "Mess With Zucker Center" ... IME the people in the Manhattan GC are mostly fairly nice and don't pull shenanigans like that, if...
That would be a lot to ask from a machine... From what I understand a plek is a system that can detect and (probably) take out high spots, and since it's under computer control it should be able...
I only play with the pointy end. It has better tone.

Well I'm not suggesting just noodle. You could go about this very systematically, but I'm saying your ears will need to be the final decision maker on whether a third or fourth sounds better. The...
