The nicest sounding Guild I’ve played was a Ghost label X500 with white Franz (I think) pups. I’m still haunted by the sound.Originally Posted by DawgBoneI can never find it on a youtube search so I'll let you slide this time (heh heh) if you send the video link to my inbox or at least just post it up on the forum. I'll bookmark it. It stands out to my ears in a big way, so much so that I can't forget hearing it. THE jazz tone for mellow stuff like that. My wife also loves old Guilds so who knows one day maybe I can talk her into getting me a nice X-700 just so I can play Moonlight in Vermont for her around the house. But I gotta start small so I need that link brother!

Well, not sure this will do any good, but.....bump.
I had a set of TI Benson 12's. They were the best set of strings I ever owned. Took about a month to break in, after that they kept their tone and tension for three years. (Sold the guitar.) The only...
That is a unique guitar design, vaguely indebted to Ken Parker for the headstock (as the luthier acknowledges) and a hint of the old Danelectro Convertible body shape (which may be coincidental). ...

Thats quite likely. I’m learning this by reading and memorizing. phonetically.
Yes, the clip-on tuners I use for classical guitars are temperamental due to the nylon strings being softer, I'd say mushy compared to steel strings. It takes longer to tune. I'll have to look into...
Well look at that! That turned out really nice. I like the new knobs, aesthetically speaking. Hoping that you have years of enjoyment with that guitar!
I hear more midrange, more "texture" in the vintage one. Granted it's not apples to apples but this is consistent with my experience about what makes vintage dearmond pickups unique in the first...
Thanks, I'll get one. I would have said if it was for acoustic.
I have an Epi premium with the wine red color, plays great, sounds and looks great. Considering the measly sum i paid for it compared to my other guitars shows you don't have to spend a small fortune...
OTOH, at least someone is producing American arch tops other than custom builders. :)
Both sound nice. I have an original on an Artist Award that I wouldn't think of replacing.
Especially since Gibson isn’t making new ES175’s. But I’m keeping my Epi ES175 Premium, thin neck and all. Great guitar!
Strings comparable to TI Bensons without the...
