The nicest sounding Guild I’ve played was a Ghost label X500 with white Franz (I think) pups. I’m still haunted by the sound.Originally Posted by DawgBoneI can never find it on a youtube search so I'll let you slide this time (heh heh) if you send the video link to my inbox or at least just post it up on the forum. I'll bookmark it. It stands out to my ears in a big way, so much so that I can't forget hearing it. THE jazz tone for mellow stuff like that. My wife also loves old Guilds so who knows one day maybe I can talk her into getting me a nice X-700 just so I can play Moonlight in Vermont for her around the house. But I gotta start small so I need that link brother!

Oh - this bad boy I like how even the cover tells you off ‘All musicians SHOULD know’ Absolute goldmine of a book. The original changes to I Got Rhythm lol. It was the former owner who...
?? - I can't think of a way to voice a chord with three semitones in it on the guitar (A/Bb, E/F, C#/D) The FM7#5 seems a little too dissonant to start out a tune.
He sure does. I didn’t know there was a controversy about that first chord until I saw some Mike Moreno video a few years ago. I learned it from the real book when I was 17 or something and then the...
thats a fact around here the giggs pay less the half of what i was getting 30, 40 years ago.
AFIAK the only jazz musicians Barry had unqualified admiration for were Bud and Bird (Bird recorded with the original changes on With Strings.) So that tracks. To him what Jarrett and or Evans were...
It's not a state (CA) law, it's a federal law: Made in USA | Federal Trade Commission
The M-1's cover plate is a single unit with the T-shaped saddle cover* welded to the cover plate, which in turn is secured by lots of screws (16, I think). Whatever it's called, it makes some kinds...
Chicago is now another world. I used to love to go to the City 40 years ago and see the guitar stores. Do you remember Wooden Music. Went to my first real guitar show there in 1979. Hung out a little...
Thanks for this. I've been waffling about just soldering the 57 into the Emperor's original harness. With two handsome hollowbodies plus the ES125 in need of electronics attention I think it's time I...
It's high time you were up in this debate. 'Bud Powell and Barry Harris played Bb dim7. But most jazz artists since the time of Miles Davis play the Eø A7b9, including Bill Evans and Keith ...
I like the idea of learning jazz being more like learning Allman Brothers when I was in a high school jam band than like learning Villa Lobos when I was in college
Well the good news is there more guitars available both new and used, cheap and bespoke than at any time in history. The real problem is there not a lot of good paying gigs to play any longer!
57 Classics will work fine and while you’re in there, replace the pots, caps, jack, and switch with better stuff. You could even wire it up 50s style too. Good luck.
The case against is that it’s not how the music was really learned or played. I don’t have anything against fake books at all and most normal people only have but so much bandwidth for learning by...
