My God!
Mike you’ve really taken it up a notch. You have some incredible guitars.
Hammertone, thanks for pointing out that I was wrong. But I stand by my statement. Front and center. I don’t think every guitar Mark ever made is in that gallery. But Mikeys guitar is.
Vinny has been telling me, Joe get over the infatuation you have with the G on the headstock. Have Campellone build you the guitar of your dreams. Your guitar and Mikes guitar has inched me closer to that move.
This guitar reminds me of my Gibson Johnny Smith. The owner took such amazing care of it and then he passed away. The family needed to get what they deserved for it. The next person in line got themselves a real gem. Beautiful Mike, just beautiful.

?Thanks to all of you for the compliments, comments and information regarding Mark Campellone.
I agree and will say this. IF you are searching for a really good Gibson L5 or Johnny Smith, instead invest in having Mark make you a really wonderful Special. His work far exceeds anything Gibson would overcharge you for.

A guitar pro in Atlanta let me play his Campellone Special year's ago. Loved it!
Mark C worked with me over the phone and I placed my order. I drove to RI to pick it up when it was ready. When I played it at Mark's shop, it was an entirely new experience. The posts and pics above do more justice to Mark's work than I can.
It plays well, sounds great, and is beautiful to look at. Bob Wilcutt (Wilcutt Guitars in Lexington, Ky.) set it up for me recently and was very complementary.

Mikey I am so glad this post resurfaced. Your Campy is unbelievable.
Such a beautiful axe. I have to have one more but the wifey already has warned me that she will turn me into a soprano. I have so fallen in love with mine. A L5 is a step down. People that don’t have one will never understand the huge difference. I think my Campellone is the best guitar that I have period. The neck and frets are far better than a Gibson. People in the know.....know.

When you buy a Campellone guitar it’s like reliving the reason why post war L5’/L7’s were so revered. Marks been able to replicate that sound and maintain the acoustic part of his builds. Whereas the recent run of Gibson L5p straight acoustic offerings have gotten very heavy compared to post war versions.
Campellone’s are the best Archtop value for those seeking a Gibson alternative. His fit and finish is just flawless.

Hello all,
I ordered a Campellone in July, to be delivered in his next batch. Like other guitarists I bought and sold too many instruments over several decades. With only a few left, I wanted an L5CES, but not a new one. While newer L5s (90s and later) are certainly very nice guitars, they are just too heavy and cumbersome for me with the massive neck block and 3 3/8 depth. The early 60s look wonderful and I have played a few early 60s L5CES and Super400s. They were all nice, but I can't consider one at $16k-$20k.
So, I ordered a guitar which is too be similar to a later 50s early 60s L5 with a single pickup, but more comfortable. It should be perfect company for my '46 Epi Triumph and Historic Les Paul.
I have enjoyed the photos of your guitars, thanks you for posting them.

What beautifull guitars made by Maestro Artesano Campellone. Wonderful craftmanship with love in every detail.
The art deco inspired tailpieces and inlays...just awesome.
I only own a Korean made D`Angelico EXL 1, but looking at these guitars....I have to get more money.
I know that there are players saying they "don´t like all the bling". But I love the look of Campellone and D`Angelico archtops.Last edited by Musgo Real; 09-29-2019 at 02:13 PM.
