Pyramid strings, your thoughts?

I guess this is as good a place as any to report on the "silk & monel" strings Pyramid custom-made for me. I've been trying them on my jumbo, and they're even weirder than I expected. The silk tames the metallic character this winding alloy always gives but they still have a lot of twang. However, and this didn't at all strike me when playing, they give the jumbo a very mid-rangy character, almost typical archtop like - an enormous change from its usually a bit too expansive basses.

So in the end I hesitate to try them on my archtop, which had been my idea initially (for period correctness and all that ). They should be good for a big flattop with rosewood or similar B&S and/or a cedar top.
