IMHO the Wilde/Bill and Becky Lawrence L280 noiseless pick ups are the best drop-in replacements for the sake of fat tone and clarity.
The Dimarzio Area T pickups are a close second. They might get you closer to the classic Ed Bickert pre-PAF tone, if that's what you're looking for, than the Wildes. Having used both extensively, I prefer the Wilde pickups.
Both of those have a bit of humbucker compression; if you really like the true single coil sound, the Wilde Microcoil pickups for the Telecaster are outstanding. While they are a true single coil, they pick up less noise due to the smaller coil not offering as much antenna. There are two versions, one with I presume a ceramic bar magnet and one with alnico polepiece magnets; I prefer the sound of the ceramics (the alnicos are a little too Stratty for my tastes).
In my case, I have found that I like adding a resistor in parallel between the hot output of the bridge pickup and ground to sweeten/round off the highs just a little bit and make it less spiky. There are wiring diagrams on the Wilde website and also Lindy Fralin's website has a very nice page on this. Basically, this makes the bridge pickup think it is seeing a lower resistance pot, say 100K, while the neck pick up thinks it's seeing 250K. Folks who belong to the icepick school of Telecaster bridge pickups would probably hate it.
Thought I would share. Aerodyne Telecaster. Stock pickup replaced with CC in P-90 case and upgraded bridge pickup. Both by Pete Biloft at Vintage Vibe pickups.

If I were in your shoes, I'd be looking seriously at the Benedetto 16-B in the for sale section here.
But, hey, I'm a Benedetto guy. Check out Jocelyn Gould and the tone she is getting from her...
I don't love the sound of really rubato guitar all the time, solo or otherwise, but this song seems to call for it somehow. Even if I were to work of the Galbraith arrangement, I'd at least try to...
You know that part in the podcast where two men are arguing about how many EQ plugins are necessary? You won't believe this, but they are the same man.
The original C24 concept was supposed to be a cross between a LP and a Strat, for people who used both and wanted one guitar to cover both. (The 25" scale is in between the two.) To me anyway, it...

Hey all I’m going to be living in Santa Barbara for a couple of months this summer. I’m eager to meet local musicians as soon as I can so hopefully I get invited to jams and/or set up some gigs....
Well, let your ears decide. Play Bb7 to Emin7. Do you actually hear a satisfying resolution? Now play Bb7 to A7 a couple of times, then Bb7 Emin7 A7. Do you hear a delayed resolution? In my case, I...
Wow, I never thought of that in those terms, much more in these:
It's great to have both views.
I'll try to find a recording. You don't want to hear my sorry attempts at it.
Re #1 - I would tend to view Em7 there as an inverted C chord. Or a functional tonic sub if you like.
Re:#2 It’s customary in ‘common practice music’ to chromatically alter a cycle 4 profession...
I posted a chord melody of Here's That Rainy Day in Liarspoker's original thread, which came from a book entitled: 42 Chord Melody Arrangements for Solo Guitar by Barry Galbraith. I did not see it...
