I tried an experiment with Pots and Capacitors years ago, I remember using a 10K pot amongst other values, all wired with connectors, so easily removed. Yes, 100K would be fine for Jazz.

25 1/2" scale Fender neck. And it's a great guitar - you should buy it! The tele with the conversion-scale neck has been sold.

    seems good so far

The pickup switch is in my way a bit

Reversing the plate won't help as the
Vol control will be in my way

Is there an easy solution for this ?

Has anyone fitted a 3 way slider switch instead ?

Put a 3-way mini-toggle switch between the two pots on one of these:

Bend it out of the way? Set it on the neck pickup and snap it off

    I sussed it ….

I just swapped the pus wiring over
so that when the switch is in
    the traditional bridge position ….
it now gives me the neck pu only
(and is out of the way of my hand)

a simple mod in the end
it came to me lying in bed last night

a much better solution for me than
swapping the switch for a slider etc

    Hurrah !

Here's the latest from my garage. Two strap buttons = feet.

You know, I agree with those saying every modification made to the original Tele takes a bit of elegance away. You just try to keep as much of the simple essence that attracted you in the first place. If you add (as I did here) Gibson scale, boutique bridge, HB, tummy cut, it becomes a versatile instrument but the original rudeness has disappeared.

i see you’ve got brass in yours

do you think I’ll get a darker sound in mine if i put 3 brass saddles in there ?

or if not what material would give me a darker sound ?

IMO, Graph Tech saddles will soften it up.

Thank you. Brass saddles will provide fuller lows and take the "edge" off the highs, although I've never used anything else, so I'm no authority. Definitely look at compensated saddles such as those from Rutter's, Glendale, Barden and others. Best of luck.

I have Graphtech saddles on my Tele partscaster. They do what is advertised. They take the high pitched spike out of the attack. Brass saddles will leave more of that in.

Funny! When I played a standard Tele (from ‘69 until I switched to 7s in the early ‘90s), I always turned the plate around so I could do volume swells with my pinkie. One man’s meat…

I’ve just changed to brass saddles
its intonating fine , with TI 13 flats
    on there , wound third

(i assumed i’d be ok cos i use these
strings on my arch top with a simple
    non compensated saddle)

Nice. Interesting wood combination and headstock finish. I just threw this tele thinline together while I was on the beach for a few days. Some kind of Cavalier Lion pickups, Gotoh bridge, lightweight Warmoth swamp ash body, and an old Warmoth boatneck. Too much fun! When I get home, I'll probably swap in a nice tele neck, and a three-ply guard of some sort.
