an SG Jr was Bill Frisell's choice guitar for years-
worked out for him pretty well.

Sweet ax Skip. Are you going to post pics of how the controls turned out or did I miss that?

You have to start young, if you want to become a "Nashville Cat." Here's my one year-old grandson enjoying developing his right-hand technique on the Telecaster. He will be a jazz winds from a new direction hot picker before too long.

Lovely! That is how it has to go! The young man alrady shows skill in his focus and hand position.
Did you finish that Tele yourself? Is it an oil finish? I just received a nice unfinished tele body and want to go for a natural look similar to yours.Last edited by Frank67; 11-20-2016 at 06:54 AM.

You know .... buying a new guitar really does bring happiness!

here's a bit of his collection-
Bill Frisell | Vintage Guitar(R) magazine
but I know he did use SG jr's-
I had this on my wall as a kid-
but then...

Nice build Skip!
With the wooden bridge does it have the same twangy sound as a tele?
Does the second f hole make a difference in sound quality vs the single of say a thinline tele?
Can you comment on some of the design choices you made with this, say in what you were hoping to do with it and whether you think you achieved it?
Sorry folks, didn't mean to turn it into a build thread but I'm interested in doing a similar thing and hoping to learn from his success.
Thanks

So i was scratching around on the international web looking for reference on some old pickups and i come across a 60's Vox Tele rip off....
'Steel tone!'
Super rare.
Escort - Esquire?!?
I think they would be Italian made.
Do these qualify as the first Tele clone?
Note the scratch plate and pickup placement, did Leo rip it off for the ASAT Custom? Lol...
Food for thoughtLast edited by jazzbow; 11-21-2016 at 02:02 PM.

I remember the Italian, Eko-made Vox guitars. In fact, I used to play my aunt's Eko acoustic all the time in the 60s. It sounded exactly like the record "Bus Stop" by the Hollies.
The "Escort" sure likes like a play on the "Esquire." If you can find one, it is probably a decent guitar.

You'd think Graham Nash could've afforded a real Tele by then. Good clip.

And of course, your picking technique, EQing and amp make a big difference.

Has anyone played the new Elite Tele? Reviews? It looks pretty sweet... for the money, it should be...

Modern T Satin
Same specs with different shape, it sounds really good to me.
