This one might not be to everyone's taste, but you have to agree that it's a little bit different from the usual fare!
Here is my latest project, a gift for my father. It is a 17" non-cutaway acoustic archtop. The top is Kauri, the back and sides are Tulip Tree, the neck is Rimu, and all the dark bits are Puriri. It has a nice, big, chunky neck to reduce fatigue while quietly strumming cowboy chords and a spacious 45mm nut width.
It is certainly not without its flaws, but overall I'm pretty happy with how this one turned out. I'm trying new things and getting more experience, and with every problem comes a lesson. The more mistakes you make, the better you get at covering them up!
The guitar will be on its way to Canada in a couple of days so I may not get the chance to get a sound sample... but I will do my best!
Enjoy,
Jay

Fantastic! My only question: Are you available for adoption?

That is a beautiful instrument. What a nice gift! that tulip is lovely wood. The design is excellent. Sound clips will be a bonus! Well done. I hope your Dad plays it in good health!

Thanks Jehu,
I think both the top and the back came out really beautifully! Nice shape too.
I look forward to seeing the next one!

Wow! That came out nicely. You should continue doing this. At about your tenth guitar, you should be ready to hang out your shingle and be ready to do this full-time.
Any chance of hearing a clip? Get Dad to chunk a few chords and play a few lines.Last edited by Jabberwocky; 08-26-2015 at 10:58 PM.

Jehu, I am speechless. Somehow, me saying it's beautiful is a put down. Oh my god. I didn't even know that wood existed. And you made it for your dad. I will tell you for sure, he will cherish it for all eternity. He will show it to everyone he knows. He will say, look at this, my boy made it or me..
You should be proud. That's one of the best things I've ever seen.
Thanks for sharing. Joe D

Thanks for the kind words, folks! I'll do my best to get a sound clip together before I head off in a couple of days. Now I just need to get it to the other side of the world in one piece!

Just to add my $0.02, it's gorgeous.

Alright, here's what a two-day-old guitar made by some bozo on the Interweb sounds like. It's still pretty constricted sounding, but I'm confident it will open up just as the previous one has. (That one has probably doubled in volume in the past few months! It's a machine.)
A little Stella followed by some good old-fashioned chunking. Apologies in advance for the sloppy playing.
