extant? been pawing around wondering. found many close, but no cigars. single cut, double cut, whatever. hopefully nothing super obscure. i know hofner has had a few over the years, and many guilds almost did, but i haven't found much. affordable-ish used mij/mia production guitars would be best, i suppose.

also, why not? it seems pretty cool to me (in theory). like a spruce casino or sorrento, or a spruce x175 (i think, the thinner one).

A Guild X-170 isn't thin enough for you? They're plentiful and available.

Great call on the El Rey. I've got one that I've been in love with since the day I got it.

I've read good reviews on Seventy-Seven guitars, but I was surprised by their high prices when I checked their website. Eastmans, on the other hand, are very high quality instruments that are easily worth twice their asking price IMO.

-standard depth (more than 2-2 1/4" stops being thin, i think)
-hog b/s (not sure how to feel about it, never tried)
    -one pickup (prefer two)
-otherwise, a fascinating guitar. (though i generally prefer rounded cutaways to pointy ones)

see? harder than it looks to find this sort of guitar. what if i found some regular old guitar and had someone slap a spruce top on it. how dumb of an idea is that? how much would it run?

About that H575, which took the guy a year to procure from Heritage as a custom order, did you see this:

"Unfortunately, there's a radio station transmitter next to our house that kills my amplifier, so I can't get the H575 to perform to its full potential. As a result, the guitar has had little use and is in like new condition."

    Really!!?

I've only owned one Hog in a Heritage Eagle. I'm now a fan...in some ways it's better than spruce...much warmer.

having one pup makes that '75 a rarity, plus a spruce top to boot.

    well, I tried...good luck!

Here's my next guitar: thinline, spruce top: Novax Guitars: Instrument Models: “Slimline Jazz” model

Don't let the frets scare you -- these are easy to play (I own a semi-hollow model)!

I own a Seventy-Seven Albatross Jazz Model. It is an excellent guitar especially at its price ($1600). I (and many other students I talked to) honestly think it is one of the best semi-hollow guitars at my school with a jazz guitar studio of over 50 people. And there's a whole lot of them. Gibsons, Heritages, Ibanezs and custom made ones.

Oh yeah, do a quick search on Ebay for Seventy Seven guitars. I think you'll like what you see

The Albatross Jazz is also a spruce top semi hollow by the way I can really vouch for it. (Although I realize you're looking for a hollow body) The Exrubato sounded good too when I was debating between the 2 models. I think the albatross is a little more transparent and bright while the Exrubato is warmer.

Tell me if you're interested in the Albatross I have a clip on youtube that might give you some ideas.

The Verythin Classic has laminated spruce with a solid spruce sustain block.

I'd go with an early version (@2004) Hofner "J.B." or Thin President (@2004):
    - carved solid spruce top
    - hollow
    - 2 1/4" rims
    - laminated "anigree" rims/back

Or a 1960's President Thinline or 457/S Thinline - great hollow 16" guitars with laminated spruce tops.

I tried one as well, it is incredible, expensive but you get what you pay for.
I just got an eastside(I have a soco deluxe too).
Matt Artinger is making some nice spruce-topped thinlines as well.
