For many tunes, no discussion. But there are exceptions.

If somebody calls Green Dolphin St or Autumn Leaves, we'll confirm a key, because those tunes are often played in two keys.

If somebody calls All The Things You Are, or many other standards, no discussion. Oh, wait. There might be a discussion about whether to use the bebop intro on ATTYA, or something like that.

Corcovado is played with different turnarounds, so you have to be aware of that, although usually the most dominant player (typically kb) will make it clear.

I know people who like the Bill Evans version of Days of Wine and Roses, which goes into Ab, so with those guys there's always a discussion.

If it's an unfamiliar chart, it may be a good idea to discuss roadmap. Some players will want to discuss hits, but I often find that unnecessary.

If a singer, who isn't clearly a musician, is sitting in (not encouraged, but it happens), I go over everything with the singer to make sure the arrangement is crystal clear.
