I raved about this album after buying the CD back in October 2023. Now it's on Bandcamp! I strongly recommend people check it out. There is quite a prominent R'n'B aspect to more than one of these tunes, but both saxophonist Paul Dunmall and trumpeter Percy Pursglove (Pursglove was a real revelation for me on this album) are seasoned free players, and you can tell in how they play, there is a definite sense of adventure and kind of teetering on the brink, like things could spill over into free jazz mayhem, it's wonderful! And the big band adds to the richness of textures, and seems to be brought in and out spontaneously on some tunes. Also some of the tunes are kind of reminiscent of later John Coltrane. So lots of different influences, and it's really wonderful...
