"The waiting is the hardest part." Tom Petty. (I have muttered this many times over the years. It's not as if I heard the song and thought, "Brilliant line!" Rather, the truth of it often strikes me anew.)
And then there's the Leonard Cohen line that is sometimes my signature, "If I knew where the good songs came from, I'd go there more often." There's something mysterious about that initial impulse that later, sometimes much later, becomes a finished work.

It can also be in reference to the concept of nice guys always finish last while the person who has no qualms about stepping on anybody's toes to get where they're going get all the rewards and accolades.

I tend to procrastinate until the last minute. When My wife confronts me with it, I usually reply with:
Never do, today, what you can put off until tomorrow.
For the workaholics among us, I also like:
Anything worth doing is worth obsessing over.
I'm not usually the most popular guy at parties.

Just got this from Episode 8 of the new "Perry Mason" on HBO:

I posted it was my signature line, then realized I hadn't put it in on JG even though I have it there in other forums....oops.
Regardless, it's there now. It's my own reminder to myself about what's important as a musician, and it ain't GAS!

A line of Goethe's that I read as a teen has been with me since: "Experience is only half of experience." (Even wrote a song about it.)

If you are going to get blamed for things you didnt do you might as well take the blame for everything.

It costs more time and money to do it wrong, than to do it right.

You are what you play.
A band is a schedule.
Book a schedule; you'll find a band.
Never promise what you can't deliver.
