I think since I succeeded in my every key program, I may as well take the next step and go on the pauln program. I'll try to learn everything by ear and if it's not perfect or I have to deviate then big deal.

Maybe it can be a study group thread. And maybe he'll give us some tips. I know many other forum members do a lot of ear work not only pauln.

I think I'll start with this tune at 28:45. She's my favorite youtube musician.

That's pretty nice, don't transcribe the thunder.

Going off the pauln program. I prefer to be able to flip through tunes in the real book, and quickly analyze transcriptions etc. Getting much less repertoire done only transcribing. Although I did start to enjoy the transcribing. I think it improved my ear, and I'll keep doing it frequently.

Moving forward usually means adopting goals or systems, but a goal may utilize a system, and a system may utilize a goal. Goals are more specific (satisfaction of meeting a challenge), systems are more general (satisfaction of sticking to unchanging principles). The favored blend of goals/systems depends on both internal (personal successful learning strategies) and external (situational practice, rehearsal, recording, performance) factors.
I know you're doing something right, you've sometimes written with a depth and insight that has surprised me.
