Hi all,
Does anyone have a diagram for wiring two a 2 Humbucker
guitar as follows
(At the moment
With the switch in the centre position
Reducing the bridge vol control to zero
has the affect of reducing the total guitar output to zero)

I would prefer that reducing the bridge vol to zero
only reduces the bridge PUs output to zero
(leaving the neck PUs output as is)
----------------
I hope that I have explained the issue clearly .... !
I know it is possible to achieve what I want because
I have another guitar (an Ibanez AF120) that already works in that way

Do you still get output from the neck pickup ? or not ?

My Gibson 175 with 2 humbuckers is wired that way. When in the center the bridge volume control will kill all output.

My Gibson's also have no output if one of the pickups are turned down all the way in middle position.

There are two ways of mixing two pickups that leave the pickups connected directly to the output when the volume is up full

(It's quite simple when you know how)
It's not a biggie so won't be doing the change soon ,
But when I've next got to get the guitar on the bench
I think I will change it to the 'alternate vol control wiring'

My Epi ES175 is wired that way. It can be disconcerting until you figure out the cause of the silence. But it can be a handy way to kill silence the guitar temporarily, for whatever reason. I've just been too lazy to change it, since it's easy to just turn up the bridge volume a little. Doesn't take much.

Is not correct for my AF120
(There were a few different factories making Ibanez guitars ....)
I'd be interested to know if you've got a 2 PU Ibanez jazz box

This doesn't directly address your question, but guitars can come out of the factory wired incorrectly. I had an Eastman, and I didn't like the sound of the pickup at all. I replaced it with a few others, and it sounded okay, but I decided to sell it. I stared to reinstall the original pickup, and looked at the Armstrong website for the wiring diagram. I found that the wrong wires were connected together, and to the volume pot. After I rewired it to the Armstrong diagram, it sounded so good that I decided not to sell it. The factory had just wired it wrong. All sorts of things can happen in a factory.

One general word of caution when dealing with 4 wire guitar circuitry: When it comes to 4 conductor wiring, wiring is not standardized. The colour coding in a Duncan is the same as a Gibson but different from DiMarzio, for instance. You can't rewire a pickup replacement wire to wire if you're following colour coding, not until you look up that pickup manufacturor's wiring colours.
Just to keep in mind when you're using a diagram that specifies colour connections.
