i still learn a new standard for 4-6 weeks and get it down thoughly - way to go i find. I dislike jams personally - i am a classical background and i like to know roughly what I will be playing. Mesa Boogie Lonestar makes killer jazz amp btw - dark and well balanced sound.
I have a 1st generation Parker Fly, never tried, and never needed to turn the rod. More Non-defining info, I know, but a data point on stiff necks and boards.

This. In jazz, mm isn't only about the contour of the melody, it's also about the tonality of those raised notes against the (minor) chord.
I love it too. I like the enclosure emphasizing the extension and then further crap in the extensions. Lotta good vocab in DL.
GG is one of the best jazz guitarists of all time. He wasn't a monster technically but he certainly was musically. Hey ragman, are you going to participate in the Donna Lee thread? :P
