Pattern 9 – Cmaj7, G7, Dm7, Bm7b5, Bdim7
Pattern 9 is another bebop classic and is built with the 3 5 6 7 pattern.
It can be used across all chord families and works well as a standalone phrase (in a blues for example), as a pickup for longer phrases, or as the end of a phrase.

hi Dirk. When u set the tempo at 100% it doesnt have nothing to do with BPM or it does?
It does, when you set it at 100% it plays the audio file with the original recording tempo. When you go less than 100% the audio file slows down, more than 100% speeds it up.
got it. thanks for the reply. This course is really what i was looking for and i’m thrilled
Hi Dirk,
I guess the last pattern over Cmaj7 is 5123 from the first pattern 9 end-motif example.
Yeah, Im seeing that as a mistake actually – it plays nicely but its not an example of the 3, 5, 6, 7 (Pattern 9)
Jeez you can get such much mileage from this pattern alone, brilliant!
really good stuff…
