Well, it's very good, of course, but Alone Together is a slowish ballad!

Grant Green and Sonny Stitt don't play it that fast but Rollins does, with ?Burrell on guitar. But what they have in common is phrases rather than a stream of 8ths. And Grant plays it more like kind of blues, pretty spaced out.
Don't get me wrong, what you did was impressive, what with the singing 'n all. I couldn't do that, not at that speed and complexity anyway.

No one's as good as Rollins. As for singing while I play, I don't do that. Unless I'm singing, if you see what I mean
I was a singer first, you see

I'm not sure what this thread is now but I used to claim knowing about 400 tunes. I was self-humiliated onstage in 1993 not knowing Bye Bye Blackbird well enough to transpose for a guest singer. I realised this was unacceptable. I eventually landed a quiet two night a week gig with a smooth muted trumpeter, Ron Davidson who had a book the size of the New York City telephone book. I was working a day job, doing a lot of driving and kept a fakebook on the passengers seat, humming melodies to "Two Minor - Five Seven - One - Six Seven". I soon saw the repetitiveness of the Great American Songbook. For a long time on pickup jazz gigs I never needed a book. It got to be an obsession, I would have a list of tunes (Jazz Standards Introduction: Origins, History, Theory, Musicology, Biographies, and Books) that I would recite in my head between gigs. Because I didn't keep it up most of these songs are gone but would return quickly upon necessity.
Jazz is hard on many fronts.
PS: I claimed to know the changes. Melody and solo performance is a different animal.
