One of my faves. Harry Connick owns this tune:

I recorded my arrangement with a saxophonist about 20 years ago...:

Ragman, what do you think about making your comping louder in the mix? That's what I usually think when I hear your stuff.
-
Thanks, I know. Maybe I can fiddle it :-)
-
Try this, tell me how you find it. I can change it again.
Thing is, the melody generally comes out louder than the soloing so it's a question of balance. But I did think the backing was a bit quiet originally. But it also depends what you're listening to it on. Mobiles/cells are fine for properly recorded stuff but mine is just done on the computer so it's... you can supply a word for it!
-
Sounds better in my opinion
-
What are you listening to it on?
-
-
Same here!
I think there's a bit too much bass which might not have been evident before. I can probably change that too.
We won't stop now till it's perfect :-)
-
how come the melody is louder than the solo
-
Confidence, you don't have to think about it. It's very simple, right there on the lead sheet, and I just read it off. Soloing, you have to think as you go so there's a sense of distance.
