We started a steady weekly afternoon gig at Englewood Hospital (sp?)---music in the lobby---under the auspices of the Jazz Foundation. It's a guitar day thingie and I can use bass, guitar or piano (the lobby has a Steinway). I made sure it's steady this time before announcing here and on FB and having egg on my face like with that jiveass 'hood restaurant/bar. This is real: it's the gig Gene Bertoncini did before with Roni Ben-Hur. It went well---lotta smiles back and forth (even some dancing when we went salsa!)

Free and open to the public. 12-2 and we'll post a regular day.

Today my guest was my long-time bass colleague Tim Givens.

    Stay tuned for future partners-in-crime...

I finally succumbed and sent away for a headstock tuner (I lost scores of 'em)---and it never arrived.

    Can't win fer losin'

    I get sunny weather
I'm just as blue as the sky....'

And I asked MY old man to teach me to ice skate.

'Can we wait til it gets a little WARMER out?'

$5 to who can guess where I stole that line. Hint: another of his one-liners: 'My doctor told me to watch my drinking. So now I drink in front of the mirror'...

I wouldn't have gotten the 1st one but the 2nd was too easy, just use the $5 for another tuner
