Lovely finger work with the right hand, Mark. I can hear a Carolina wren in the background. Did you change strings for this performance, or is there a pickup other than the neck-mount involved? The Ribbecke sounds somehow breathier than when you flatpick, though not in a way attributable to fingers alone.

Hi Robert, there’s really nothing different. Same strings (Pyramid Classic Nickels.012), same Kent Armstrong pup, same Roland microcube amp, same iq5 mic and iphone6s. I’m the room, live, my nails really do sound that different than my flat pick (Clayton Raven 1.52mm). I think this is true on all guitars i play.

Happy to have my guesses proved wrong. It really is your touch, and that is more reassuring than any validation of my hypotheses. I like how the Pyramids sound—never tried them, but will do so soon—though I’m aware their sound is another manifestation of your touch and technique.
