The word I think best describes this guitar is: "Spectacular". The highest end model, from the best brand, from the best era for high quality archtops! This Gibson is really a stunning instrument to behold. It is made of top notch gorgeous woods and has a fantastic and beautiful sunburst finish. It plays and sounds like a million bucks with low action, no buzz and a beautiful big sound thanks to the X-bracing and large body. Overall, this example is in fantastic shape for its age with only some light wear, most notably a ding on the back headstock corner, a chip at the neck heel, a small cleanly drilled hole on the fingerboard extension that appears to have been for a pickup at some point, and an added strap loop on the neck heel. (the guitar comes with a very cool vintage leather strap that has a hook on one side for the strap loop). The guitar comes with the original hard case which is in rather nice shape, but does have some tape wrapped around the handle.

    Asking $18,000

I love the recurves on old Gibson’s. Too bad they don’t carve them like that anymore.

It's been done recently as well by several builders.
