Serial# 91142727. This is the last Johnny Smith to leave the Custom Shop. I purchased this guitar back in 1994. Hutch was building me a LeGrand, and in one of our conversations he told me about this guitar and I ended up buying it. I would be happy tell the whole story, but I'm new to this forum and I don't know how much room they give you to post. This guitar is as close to new as you can get. still has the original strings. I'm asking $13,900. I'm selling my collection and it's time for them to go to a new home. Local pickup only. I will not ship this guitar, so if you are interested, arrangements would have to made. No international sale, unless you want to send a courier or come to the US. Prefer cash sale. Any questions, please email me. Sorry, I don't know how to flip the pictures around. Price Drop $12,500.00

I bought Johnny's Legrand (the Amber one in the picture) & picked it up in Rockford Mi. The guitar was exactly as described. All Johnny's guitars are real beauties. If either his J.S. or his ( LAST ONE MADE) kalamazoo Award had come with a BJB pickup, not attached to the neck, He'd be selling only one of these gems today

By the way Johnny's the real deal with lots of great stories

Just thought I'd help clear up any confusion regarding the guitars in Johnny's photo's, the wine colored instrument IS NOT Johnny's Kalamazoo Award, the way he explained it to me was when he went to Nashville to pick up the Legrand & the J.S., he picked up the pictured wine Citation for a friend.
P.S. Ask Johnny about how he obtained the J.S. from Gibson & how many builds it took to get it....interesting

Following up on Don's )17571) quote. Don just sold his Heritage here a week ago, and in the process told me Johnny Mac's stories with Gibson Custom and his collection. I also talked to Johnny M regarding his Johnny Smith, and I think he will be posting a Kalamazoo Award, along with the JS. He was hesitant to ship to S. Florida from Michigan, so maybe a local pickup works out best here for buyer and seller. Johnny Mac has a fascinating past as a Jazz guitarist and with Gibson.

I did read the guitar's story on another website where you listed the guitar some time ago, and it's nothing short of fascinating. You can rest assured that I'd do anything to buy your Johnny Smith if I lived anywhere near your neck of the woods even if that meant taking out a loan at the crazy interest rates we're seeing these days! It's not just a guitar, it's a piece of history, and it would mean a lot to anyone who has any interest in jazz guitar, that is, any one of us dinosaurs. I'm sure that whoever ends up getting it will be someone who's going to take good care of it. Thank you for sharing this!
