Dang Jack, haven't you owned all of those before? I would think with your connection with 77 Guitars, they could build you the version you want?
Best of luck in the chase!

I do but i'm done buying random old guitars from people I don't know. Too many issues. On a related note, there's a '62 175 on reverb for $2295 which has had a neck reset and has duncan antiquity pickups. I was ready to pull the trigger but had my luthier look at the pix and he told me that the top looks like it's folding on it. Saved me a lot of time and trouble. I'll probably buy a more recent one unless I get one from someone I trust.

Does it really have to be a good one?

This is all true. The top on the 59 reissue is thinner than the 60's and later 175's. When I got my 59 reissue, I also had a genuine 1963 ES-175 (since sold) and comparing them, the top was thinner on the reissue. I compared the reissue to a friends 52 ES-175 and it was about the same in top thickness. The tone on the 59 reissue has a more acoustic sound than the 60's models (the Joe Pass Joy Spring sound is a good description of the early 60's 175 sound). And the neck on the reissue is a 1959 neck profile, much thicker than any 175 made after 1959.
While I can understand Jack's inability to bond with the 59 reissue, others who read this (who are looking for a 175) should check the 59 reissue out. The 59 reissue (assuming you get a good one) is a great guitar._____________________________________________
