I have the Pigtronix infinity 2 looper.

I record some loops but ideally I'd like to play those along with a Drum Genius drum track. However, I can't seem to get them to line up timing wise. This is mainly for practice as opposed to recording.

Are there any solutions people have found for something like this?

    It is very difficult.

Supposedly Beat Buddy (drum machine) has some type of syncing capability with some brands of looper. Sorry don’t have much more info. And the Aeoros looper for sure.

Get a A/B, use the A/B as input, loop the Drumgenius loop in your looper, then switch to guitar.

Just realized I wanted to write A/B switcher but I think you understood what I meant.

One follow up. Do you have any suggestions on how to get the drum geinus sound from my phone into the looper? Are there bluetooth devices with a line out or do you just mic it?

I have not done it myself. I just had the idea with the A/B switcher because I was recently thinking about using the A/B output of a switcher to send a rhythm guitar loop (I have a ditto looper) to one amp and then switch for improvisation to another amp with a different sound.

I think there are USB audio interfaces for smartphones but you should also be able to go directly with a cable and a mini-to-normal-jack adapter out of the headphone/line out of your phone.

EDIT: I forgot that modern smartphones often do not have a headphone out anymore, only bluetooth. I often get annoyed by people who listen loud to something that does not interest me in public transport. So you could get an audio interface or maybe you have a bluetooth box with a line out.

Or you could use bluetooth and pair up the phone to your desktop/laptop and then to the looper?

It looks like the Pigtronix has no midi in which means you won't be able to sync up an external drum track. I've had this working with an Alesis SR-16 drum machine and a TC Electronic Ditto X4, but they both had midi ports and they synchronised automatically when connected. I think the Beatbuddy also has a midi connection that will sync up with suitable loopers.

My suggestion would be to buy a looper that has drum tracks built in. I now use the Boss RC-5.

Digitech SDRUM and Digitech JamMan combination worked for me for a couple of times but required a lot of trial and error and was not consistent.

For practice I just hold my phone close to the guitars pickup. Then the sound of drum jenius comes through and I record it on the looper. If using a one track looper I count the number of bars I want recorded, then on a second pass I record bass and chords with a Boss Oc-5 octave. Backing track ready!

I think the big problem with Drumgenius is that the bpm indications are not exact and the app does not have MIDI.

On the other hand everyone says that it has the most authentic programming and therefore is the best drum accompaniment you can get.

Haha you old metalhead, like EVH with the percussion drill -- and who was the other guy using a vibrator?
