Apparently you're giving the example but since I am probably included in "those guys":
    - who says I've never posted a video at all?
    - the people who actually post the videos in question clearly ignored the negative comments easily enough. Or maybe they use the comments section as some sort or barometer, just ignoring the tone of individual comments (as I would expect a professional event organiser to do).

Some of “these guys” have posted videos. But not everyone has a hide as thick as that. And shouldn’t have to- the fault is with those posting stuff like that, not whether or not the target can shrug it off. Most people can’t.

It's not even just a question of that: you're not forced to go read the comments, in particular on videos you do not post yourself and for which you thus don't get alerts...

But yeah, of course there are ways to write negative comments. As my mom used to say, c'est le ton qui fait la musique (I'm guessing a translation isn't needed ... but then she wasn't familiar with the hammering kind of onslaught that some people call music these days )

Actually it wasn't just some of the comments on YouTube which were ridiculous; some of the comments in this very thread on this very forum were as well.

I completely understand any artist deciding not to be a part of this sort of thing.

I also think there's a shocking lack of empathy, understanding as well as something like delusions of grandeur on the part of some of those making comments.

My expectation of social media is that it will be antisocial - it usually fulfills that promise.

They ripped up Billies Bounce! That was a cherry on top. I also really enjoyed Bill Wurtzel's rhythm guitar and all the quotes he put in his solos. Not to throw shade at Mike Jackson, he was great too. That was a good one.

After watching a bunch of the Birdland Guitar Night, Smalls Live stream, and other live stuff, I've noticed that the best one is actually Emmet's Place. He has less guitar players than Frank, but the playing is higher caliber overall. The video is better and the audio is better. I think Emmet's Place the best live series right now.

I thought Emmet wasn't live anymore, just restreams. He's had some really good ones, Christian McBride's bass duo of Briks Works, the Nicholas Payton Oleo(bass solo) and Sonnymoon for Two(exploring a theme). Those are three of my favorite live clips.

I have to ask,in what definable way is the playing "higher caliber" on Emmet's Place over Frank Vignola. All the guys i see guest on Vignola are about as good as it gets.

The playing on the Emmet Cohen livestreams is first-rate, no doubt. He's had many of the same musicians as Guitar Night. I wouldn't put the quality as higher than Guitar Night, but there is undoubtedly more variety in instrumentation. The quality of the audio and video are excellent on both. The quality of the Smalls/Mezzrow streams is so low that I don't even bother to watch it, regardless of who is playing.

Just go to Youtube and put Frank Vignola's Guitar Night in search box and link will be right there.

Bill's solo on Chicken Shack was like a guitar time machine. "Sherman, set the way-back machine for 1963..." Too bad Ted Rosenthal wasn't there on keyboards for that one!

Well I just like it better. I can't really debate you about what is "definable" I mean it's art so everyone gets an opinion and no one is wrong.

I would not say the playing at Birdland is "as good as it gets." To me it's pro level, very good, maybe in the 90th percentile. But there are guitar player clams in most shows, Frank is a bit inconsistent in his tone and playing, and the rhythm section guys are decent but not superstars. I'll take the Emmet rhythm section over those guys any day of the week. I think it's just a higher bar for a player to get on at Emmet's Place. For example, we all love Jimmy Bruno (me included) but he's losing a bit of his chops with age. He would not punch a ticket at Emmet's but Frank will put him on all the time because he is a historical figure at this point and still one of the best guitar players around. I also sense there's just a higher degree of focus and excitement at Emmet's for some reason, not sure why.

I know I'm splitting hairs and I'm a harsh critic, but go watch a few of them back to back and tell me what you think.

Quite honestly,i find most of the Emmet Place shows to be not my cup of tea. It's the kind of jazz that turns people off to jazz trying to hard to be "artists".You could take a non jazz person to the Vignola Birdland shows and there's a decent chance they would enjoy some of it.I'm sure Frank V will be glad to hear he's in the 90th percentile.Hate to tell you but great players make clams all the time.Just ask Joe Pass who admitted he never made a record without mistakes.Ever go to a Miles Davis show when he was alive? Not every note was perfect. It's improvised music, there are going to be mistakes. As far as your take on Jimmy Bruno,i couldn't disagree more.

Not harsh, just telling it like it is IMO
