I admire Mike and appreciate so much what he does... but let it be my personal thing... whenever Pete's solo began I felt such a relief . . like everything in its place.. like home

I am not sure I understand the concept behind removing the videos after a short time...

It has something to do with the distinction between a "live" and a "recorded" performances. As I understand it, if you play live, there are things you can play, like standards and copyright issues that have to be paid on a different scale than if it were a recording session. If you have something that is available for access later, it's much more of an issue of accounting and royalties than a live performance. All these distinctions were put in place long before the world of streaming and high quality computer based music became a regular necessity.
People I've known who've done shows have been told there would be no recorded versions, and they could play standards or originals. If the show is available later, it had to be originals or just improvisational performances.
But I'm not really sure what the details are. I for one sure wish I could listen to these again. If others are in the room, it's not easy to shush them and say "No talking during the show!", and when I finally have a quiet moment, it's not available anymore.

It's a symbolic as well as a practical sign of solidarity and support for the whole urgency of the situation. It's an example they set by the gesture and the music, but that being said, yeah I have the highest respect for all these guys, and I respect their judgement and their implicit observation of safety protocol.

Right now: Mike and Dave Stryker!! Dave is so solid!!!
-
While I've heard the name Dave Stryker for years, I've never really looked into his work before this episode. I'm going to have to rectify that! These House Guest series are remarkable. I know they are not intended as such, but I'd love to see them get formal releases.
I'm a big fan of Moreno, I have to say that to my ears that sound is very wet for such an intimate setting.Last edited by Average Joe; 02-22-2021 at 06:34 AM.
