I like Billie, whatever the tune. For standards, I love Linda Ronstadt. I listen to Louis and Ella a lot, both separately and together. Jack Teagarden was an under-rated jazz singer, but IMO one of the best.

Rosa was there in the early days of the sounds we love.

I like Shirley Horn, just gets to me emotionally for some reason. She was a favourite of Miles Davis.

kind of an odd pairing at the time...impulse record label bob thiele impulsive idea driven..to make trane more radio friendly...soften...yet nevertheless inspired...the two, not always 100% in simpatico...but their individual mastery shines thru, and transcends...what's now considered a classic album!!
two greats-
john coltrane & johnny hartman
track-my one and only love
cheers

Recently been listening to loads of Mildred Bailey. Very pure and unfussy voice, relatively unshowy.
She liked some quite adventurous discordant big-band arrangements at times. Here she's using more vibrato than normal, but it's great...

Scott Robinson is talented to be sure, but not so young. Joan Chamorro keeps coming up with talented young musicians, though, and mostly female.
