IMO he brought Miles to some places Miles did not have the chance to go.

But ultimately, "There's No Room For Argument"

Man, that family was hit hard in the past few years.

Yes it hits home I am 58 and he did not manage to fight it off. This gets a bit more edgy every day. RIP Wallace.

Damn. That's a downer for the week, for sure. I really liked Roney. This COVID-19 pandemic is awful.

This is horrible news. He was just about to turn 60 next month. A great trumpet player who was always true to the tradition. He lost his wife, Geri Allen just recently, and now his three children have no parents.
I hope they have someone in the family to take care of them. RIP, Wallace.

    Are you joking???

I was listening to the Chick album The Musician which features Roney on a Miles tribute, and marveling at his talent. I am not too familiar with him except for the fact he played with Miles especially with his last performance at Montreux.

    This is too, too sad.

    Damn virus.

Such a loss, a major bummer. He was Miles' only protege, personally schooled by the legend. You can hear it.

His wife was Geri Allen?? Damn, didn't know that. Btw, love the etudes album she did with Haden and Motian.

Very tragic indeed, poor kids, hope they aren't too young.

    RIP

I recommended this podcast a while back, number 8 is Wallace Roney

Podcast Archives - Chick Corea Music Workshops

I only got to hear him once on the 'Tribute To Miles' tour with Carter/Williams/Shorter/Hancock, after which I walked the ten miles home without noticing....

    Heartbreaking news
