Just came back from Strings Attached at the Zinc Bar, my third time.

I want to make a comment about Vic Juris. I wasn't familiar with his work before and I don't see him discussed much on line. Maybe I missed it somehow.

He's an absolutely remarkable player. Every note rings out clearly, great ideas in both soloing and comping and an incredible guitar tone. He did one of his own tunes, written as a tribute to John Abercrombie, which sounded great.

His gear included a Sadowski and a Fuchs amp. He had a box of some kind but I couldn't see what it was. Anybody know?

A nice dry sense of humor too.

    Anyway, nice going, Mr. Juris!

One of my favorites. I love his stuff with Dave Liebman.

I haven't been to the Zinc bar, but I've seen Vic use a Boss SE 50 a lot. They were 'the' jazz effects box for a while, I've seen Vic, John Abercrombie, John Stowell and Mick Goodrick use them. Boss Classics

The box was maybe 5 or 6 inches tall and maybe 3 wide.

Four white chickenhead knobs. Arranged in the corners of a rectangle.

With the knobs on the bottom, there's a pilot light on the upper right. Looks like a stompswitch in the upper middle.

Background color near the knobs is dark. Upper portion background is white.

I mention it because his sound was huge! I know that he can probably sound good with six rubber bands and a cigar box, but I'm still wondering how he was doing it.

Vic's the Man! Lots of great recordings as a leader and side man.

If those are the original changes, Ralph Patt's Vanilla Book needs to be updated!

He has a lot of material on youtube, some old, some new. Great playing throughout.
