Nice thread. I signed up on this site because of it. I saw Oregon a number of times in the 70s and 80s; Ralph’s approach was formative for me, a multi-instrumentalist (playing oboe, I once had a master class with Paul McCandless). At the same time, I was interested in a diversity of experiences, so also played punk, experimental, music for theater and film, etc.
Ready to change strings on my Tanglewood classical, I suddenly wonder what strings does Ralph use? Hard/heavy, or standard weight? Basic nylon, or some carbon hybrid(?) Really any details might help me hone in. Normally I’ve played with hard strings, tuned down a whole step, for a slightly deeper tone. But I’m allways up for new ideas.

I love Ralph. He is a great composer and phenomenal musician. No one plays 12 string guitar the way he does

I made a new Towner video if anybody is interested
