    Hi everyone,
I hope this is ok to post - I really want some help finding great music!

I'm going to do a separate post for jazz-blues (LINK HERE).

I'm hoping people are happy to share their favourite Blues Albums/Recordings/Players that someone new to the genre MUST check out. I'm looking for stuff that not only sounds great, but also has incredible, tasteful playing on it. Not Jazz-Blues if possible please. The other thread for that please

(If this has been posted in the wrong category, please move it to the right place please).

but I'm hoping to hear from people who can make some excellent suggestions.

    Thanks in advance.

    Bukka White.

This is the blues uncut and when I was looking for the roots, these were the ones that taught me It's ALL in the phrasing.
It may take a while to make the connection, but when you do, you'll get a big picture. I learned blues from a grave digger named John Jackson. I learned indescribable things about blues that continue to inform my ideas of jazz today.

You can do a lot worse than checking out Doug Macleod if you ask me.

Couldn't agree more with this list. Missed some though.
    - Big Bill Broonzy
    - Eric Bibb
    - John Lee Hooker (Boogy)
    - Albert Collins

To OP: I guess the list can be endless. Explore Spotify. By listening to an album, Spotify does suggestions for other ones. Sometimes it's great to discover some new things to you, sometimes it really s***s.

    Here's my favorites list:

    BB King
    Freddie King
    Albert Collins
    Stevie Ray Vaughan
T-Bone Walker (he does have some jazzy in his playing, but he's blues)
Tab Benoit (especially older stuff, before 2011's "Medicine" album)

I won't recommend albums, because any album by any of those people are awesome.

I'm also a Bonnie Raitt fan, but there's less "blues playing" on her records than you would think, unless you're listening specifically for her slide work.
