Zorn has been on my listening radar for forty years or so, so it was great to see Julian on stage with Zorn’s group, Masada. I hope this style of music never dies out…

How Julian throws all of that on one big heap and somehow makes it work… It’s like the love child of Kurt Cobain and Joe Pass. I love it. He brings the danger element that good rock ‘n roll has into jazz without completely going off into free jazz or endless atonal stuff. Jazzbox? No thanks. High-headroom clean sound? No way. Power chords? Why not!
I saw him play earlier this year and will see him again in December. Can’t wait.
