My very first Jim Hall record was “Concierto,” which I still spin on occasion the old vinyl version I bought way back in the 1980s.
For learning, I like the videos of him playing with Art Farmer. In particular, how he comps. I don’t recall which tune, but caught a glimpse of him playing a shell on the middle strings, fiddling with upper extensions on the higher strings, while muting the lowest string and another in between. That fleeting live glimpse was enough to keep a casual player like me busy for ages and some.
